I am towing with the M1 and the Mopar performance pcm. I believe there are at least two other members here using the M1 on a not so fresh of a motor with no complaints, my motor is fairly new. I like the M1 made buy Mopar for a Mopar, why buy a 4bbl carb intake (F1) that was converted to mpi.

I'm torn now.
I think my motor is a very strong running motor with 150k+ miles on it ha.

I don't use my truck as a daily driver. I driver it about 3-4 times a week, usually just on my days off when my wife wants our other vehicle. I use my truck as a truck to haul garbage, bit of firewood, haul my snowmobile and side x side around, and to tow my boat or trailer. If I had to guess I think I only put on about 7-8k miles on a year but hard to guess since I have only had the truck about 2 months.
So basically I am looking for someone to say a direct, YES go for it with a pcm tune you will notice a big difference in power or a direct NO it won't be worth be it, the stock intake is just as good as the hughes intake with all stock pieces in the motor.
LOL

Changing the intake will move the power band up a bit, not a lot of difference between M1, or Hughes. However, it DOES open up more mid-range and upper RPM power. More power is never a bad thing. (under normal circumstances.....) Cost is the factor though, the dollars to donuts ratio isn't good on a bone stock motor, BUT, when you start doing other things..... headers, heads, cam, etc..... you will get more for your performance dollar from those, that you would with the stock manifold. Doing JUST the manifold will help some, but, not as much as if you did everything else first. If you already have the manifold on there though....... It's six of one, half dozen of the other. Intake is easy, solves the plenum problem permanently, give a bit of a boost in power/drivability.... and all in all, isn't a bad upgrade. Cost is the main factor here.

Basically, it's up to you. You could always sell your plated stock manifold to recover some of the cost.... folks actually do buy them.

I have the Hughes Manifold. When all i had was the Intake, it sure made a difference! i might have lost a bit of low end grunt but once it got to 2800+rpm, you could start feeling the power. Over all i loved it when it was the only engine mod i had... now that i have completely upgraded the entire top end... it is a whole different story! Hughes has actually done some dyno testing/comparison between the M1 and His. check em out for your self:

Does the hughes intake fit under the hood with no problems, Just read a couple things about an install on a durango where he couldnt use proper gaskets because it would sit too high so he used rtv gasket maker.

According to hughes, everything (throttle body, filter housing) sit at the same height as with the stock manifold.

It all fits. I just got done doing it a few weeks ago and you don't need to modify anything. I bought felpro gaskets but the viktor heinz that come with it are ok. I have a bunch of pics of tear down and install if anyone is interested as well as a few tips and tricks that might make it easier.
