01 Ram 1500 not shifting
I just installed a K and N air intake on my truck today, and under hard acceleration it doesn't shift, it keeps going into 5500 rpm and just bounces off the rev limiter. I also had to remove a throttle body spacer that a previous owner put on the truck in order to make the intake fit. Does my computer just need reset? any help is appreciatied
Does it shift normally if you drive normally? If so, it's the standard dodge pressure sensor problem. They don't seem to like WOT runs.
Can solve it by changing out the governor pressure sensor and solenoid in the trans with the heavy duty borg warner units.

yup your dead on about shifting once i lift my foot, ill look into this borg warner, thanks to both of you.
Wow. I think maybe we are getting ahead of the problem...or not.
From what I am reading I am assuuming (as nothing was said about the problem prior) is that it may have been OK prior to installing the K&N filter?
If yes, then check the the TV cable setting on the TB bracket. Reason - the connector may have been knowcked out of position while workingon intake. It is often advantageous to reflect upon what has changed on a vehicle at or about the time the syptoms appeared.
If no, then, yes, the issues referenced by other posts may be relevant. But a little more should be asked.
Is the fluid level correct (when checked in neutral at operating temperature)?
Is the fluid a bright pink or red with no burned smell?
A TB spacer is like a fancy fishing lure. Made to catch fishermand and not fish. TB spacer offers no imporvement and is a marketing ploy to sell machined scrap to make someone some money...
Do you have access to a scanner to read codes? There are some things like counts that the PCM counts to a specified nuumber before setting a fault. It would help to know if any of these registers has started a count.
After doublechecking fluid level in tranny, disconnect the battery for a few mnutes to reset PCM. It may not help, but it cerainly cannot hurt.
If the problem is still there, I would recommend getting the BW governor solenoid (takes about 15 minutes to install), a new filter, about 5 quarts of fluid, and an aftermarket drain pan plug (only a few bucks, it will pay for itself over time). Drop the pan and see what you find.
There is a service manual download (and parts manual as well) in the FAQ/DIY section. Well worth the price (free!). Transmission section starts section 21- page 477. Will provide great info and help. Ther will be sludge around the circular magnet at the bottom of the pan. This is normal. If you have metal shavings or chunks, not so normal.
Check these out ans let us know what you find. (And we LOVE pics here....)
