Brake upgrade-I hope
This past weekend I put 2500 calipers, ceramic pads, and new brake hoses on the 96 1500.
I didn't know it but the 1500 pads & 2500 pads had the same part #.
Old calipers were hanging up so it was time for replacement any way.
Next will be 3500 rear cylinders.

I installed the 1 ton cylinders on the back. Wish I knew how much better they performed, but ue to the fact that there were actuall parts MISSING from each rear wheel brake assembly, it would be difficult to determine. I do know that it will definitely stop on a dime and return change! Took a long time to stop previous to this but I dono't know how much (probably most) was attributed to waht seems top have been non functioning brakes on the rear.
Just a follow up.
Around 2000 miles since brake upgrade.
Had to stop quick the other day for a light that had a short yellow.
Truck stops quite a bit quicker.
Had to ease up on brake pedal so I wouldn't stop before I got to the light.
Lots better than before.

Does the heavier brake brake parts make a difference on stopping. Its starting to get scary driving this thing. I've just put new front calipers on and new pads along with rear shoes. They worked fine for awhile then started to lose braking power.
Could some one give me info on this.

I'm wondering about a stock rear axle with factory disc brakes. In the Gen II family, were there any axles with disc brakes that would work on an early Gen II like a '98?
I installed factory disc brakes from a 2003 Durango on my 1998 Durango. Switching from my stock drums to discs was an AMAZING upgrade and I was hoping to do something similar to my Ram.
If nothing else, I could mount and weld the flanges from my spare Durango axle to the Ram axle, and then mount rear caliper hardware from a Durango to the Ram's rear axle.
