i used sheriffs trick and pulled of the front diff with a come-along while smacking it with a rubber hammer and it broke loose easily from the carrier bearings. before the come-along, no amount of prying worked. i did not use a case spreader.

use either National (Advance) or SKF (Napa) or Mopar seals.

you'll need to buy or make a seal puller to seat the seals.
quad4x4 has a nice one, but very expensive.
once the diff is out, you might as well take a couple of hours and clean all the mud, dirt, sand, grease, and crap out of the tubes. someone made a sort of half-moon shaped hoe to drag the crap out.
also, while its all apart, its a good time to fix all bad parts in the cad. file all burrs off the collar and splines so it slides smooth as silk.

+1 on cleaning out the tubes, and that was also sheriff that made the half moon scraper.
