Interesring advice. Thanks guys! & I Guess the 2 foot meathod is a good idea i have not considered before. I usually add 12 sandbags to the bed during winter months & am not a fan of chains. If i was to upgrade the diff, i wonder what options i have on a budget? I am also a little fuzzy on what a detroit or lincoln locker do exactly. I had a quaife diff installed in a nissan car in the past, was called a torque biasing diff. That thing got Tons more traction, Especially in rain & snow. it cost plenty too.

Detroit locker is an 'automatic' locker. Both rear wheels get equal torque distribution under most circumstances. It will disengage on corners if you are OFF the gas, so handling doesn't get quite so strange....

Lincoln locker is the colloquial term for welding up the spider gears in the rear diff. (Lincoln makes welders......) The equivalent of having a spool in the back. Very bad on the street, or in low-traction situations (on road) when you want to turn......

Have you seen the abominations that they call lincoln logs these days? They dont fit together well and they are all cut slightly differently. So sad. I built a house with my friends kids set, and was sorely disappointed.

For optimal gas mileage 75w90 is recommended. If you have posi remember to use posi additive.
