Default Intermittant engine stumble

I was going down the highway with my cruise set at 62 and the RPM's around 2700 when i suddenly started losing speed. the speedometer was slowly going down and when it got to 55 I stepped on the gas and the speed picked back up but the RPM's went up to 3600. The cruise was still on. It stayed like this for about a mile and then it kicked back in to normal. The check engine light did come on and I will get that read after work.
Has anybody seen anything like this before or have any ideas ? '96 1500

thanks,
Duane

Sounds like it dropped back into third. Wonder if TPS is failing.

You can check the codes yourself. http://dodgeram.info/Engine-Gas/OBDI/pcm_fault_code.htm
