Default 5inch coil spacers?

Any one see a problem using 5 or 4.5 inch coil spacers as long as you have longer control arms and shocks? Seems a bit sketchy to me

Probably not a good idea. Five inch springs are available.... and probably for about the same money.

Not sure why you would want to, unless they were given to you or something, but I agree with the previous posts, not something that would go on my rig.

Agree with the above. I have the 3" spacers and if I did it again I would spend the extra coin for the coils.

Lets say you got the coil spacers and longer control arms. The thing to consider is you will still flex like a stock truck vs a taller coil spring will gain you more flex.

I hope if you're planning to lift the front, you also lift the rear. That much lift might require other components as well-track bar drop, sway bar drop, and control arms as you already suggested.

And yes that big of a spacer isn't really too safe, on or off-road. Taller coils are the way to go.

agreed, if you want that much lift, get coil springs.

I can see why people like the spacers and for 1-3" spacers are fine. over that it does get sketchy. spacers maintain stock ride quality, lift springs tend to be a stiffer ride.

This guy is running 6" spacers, scroll down to post #6424. There are follow on replies into the next page with his comments and pictures.

There are many ppl with lifts that don't put it into any type of suspension stress, making this an option. Not my preference for my kind of use.

I hope 6" is the max, but I guess ppl can make them as much as they want.

2x1972 you nailed it my buddy has a set, im not looking for offroad performance thats why i have an xj, im just looking to get some bigger tires under it without a body lift ive been down that road to many times, i think i might just go with the 3 inch coil springs, control arms and of course blocks so i can maintain my stock tow rating, any suggestions on what size tires i should run? i have 265's on now and they fit perfectly

These are some good spacers that are cheap, stout, and not too tall. I have the 2" ones on my '95, and I am happy with them for my pavement pounder. If you have a 1500 I would go for 2" or 2.5" spacers up front, 33's, and 4.10's or 4.56's since you want to still have truck capabilities. I will be running 4.88's with my 35's soon, so that I can still tow, haul, and have a good power band in my daily driver.
