Default steering shaft extension needed please.

Ok so I asked something real similar to this in my body lift post but didn't get any help,I wouldn't start another thread but the way I see it is maybe someone has the answer to this question but knows nada about a body lift so they figure why read it&ontop of that I could sure use the help a.s.a.p.
*************** So heres what's going on I had to remove the steering shaft from the gear box inorder to install the steering extension for the body lift.I had a hard time getting it off but finally did.But now I cannot get the male in of the extension into the pinch bolt more than 1/4 of the way.Ive tryd prying the pinch bolt open with a large flathead screwdriver&it opened some not much.It in the correct position it needs to be in..So I figure I may have to heat it up with the torch in order to get it to open more&Im fine with that. But before I go any further Im wondering is there a way to remove the pinch bolt?

I believe I've mentioned this already...

The extension goes in the coupler only one way. It's notched and has splines iirc. You have to remove the bolt completely, the yellow boxed one.

Grease it up real good. What I did was put the extension into the coupler first. After ensuring it aligned correctly. Gently tap with dead blow hammer. The bolt can only go through to reach the threads after a slot in the extension is cleared.

Before all this, make sure you dry fit the extension on the sector shaft. Lube that up too. Then perform the above. Then finally put the extension on the sector shaft.

Multiple posts from you about the same issues is getting old man. LOL

Anyway , do you have the directions for the body lift you are installing?

It is quite possible you need to cut a groove in the shaft for the new part you are installing. The directions should/would say this.

MAYBE someone can at least merge this topic of yours to the other thread.

All I can say about the OEM part of the shaft, is that it it has a slot for that bolt you are talking about when it's lined up right. And I'm pretty sure something is D shaped. (sorry dont remember that part of it, been a while). As far as the BL goes and the parts to install, I know nothing about that.

Is there still anybody reading this?If so...I drove a 90 miles one way to buy a intermediate steering shaft off of a guy today got there&it wasnt the right one!Drove 90 miles back then another 40&found one&it was off of a 99.There was a slight difference on the top after the u joint there a part that is kinda hard to explain almost like a 2 piece circle kinda flat.My old mustang had a steering knuckle like that.Anyway it fits.
A few things Im not sure about is the spots I marked for re installation are no longer there&it will reach the gear box without the extension for the bodylift so Im wondering if I should even use it?Ive read on other sites where guys didnt use it.

There should be a slip joint on the shaft, that will collapse in the event of a front end collision. (to prevent you getting a chest-full of steering wheel...) see how much engagement is left on that before driving it without the extension. Having it fall apart while driving is rather exciting. Not to mention dangerous......

The little circle thing (rag joint) is for vibration isolation. I don't really care for them, but, seems the auto manufacturers really liked them, as most of them used them on damn near everything.

Yeah that sob was fully extended&I hit it with a 5 lb sledge today&that sucker didn't budge!I get why it wouldnt come off. That round thing thats on the one I bought didn't have one.Now I can go knock the rest of this out.Like I said my marks I made are gone so I figure Ill have to put it together &adjust before I tighten it all up.I gotta do some investigating looks like there was some power steering fluid on the back of the pump.I already know my valve cover gaskets are leaking. Im gonna knock that out no biggie but saw a drop or two of oil on front of pan hope its just leak down from covers because for some reason I think I heard its a pita
