Interesting...putting a QC cab on a std cab frame rail. Body mounts are probably a mix and match set.

I don't think this is too much of a mystery. The truck probably was stolen at some point, someone who knew what they were doing replaced all of the visible VIN tags were replaced. There are more VIN stamps and tags in various places, though you may have to take things apart to find them.
Unfortunately things like this happen. I wouldn't stress over it unless you go to sell it again.

Truck is definitely a 99 and newer, I can tell by the interior.
I agree with the guy above, likely story.

Have a look at the frame, see if it has been cut and spliced.... or if the cab was modified to sit on the regular cab frame.....

I highly doubt this.....the bed would have had to have been cut. The frame changes shape where the cab goes to the bed, so the bed would have to be highly modified too. Something would have been noticed.

Do look at the frame though...Though if I was doing a frame swap I would leave the vin alone on the cab, why switch it to the one that matches the frame?

That said, the original VIN should be stamped into the frame in places.

It is an extended cab frame. I am going with wrecked or stolen more than likely the latter, after all I am in El Paso. Juarez is only 5 mins away. The autocheck shows it as a New Mexico truck up until I bought it the first time (yes I bought it twice). I am going to check another truck my buddy has and see what the VIN tag looks like, and compare the rivets. Like I said though the VIN tag and the sticker on the rear door match. Does not look to be removed. Looks original as can be. I want to find the guy that did the work. He has got some serious skills.

Above all else the truck was taken very good care of. You can almost eat out of the engine compartment. Everything in there looks brand new. The seats are the only thing that looks bad and even then it looks really good for the age. Selling it is not an option. This thing will pull a house and holy crap does it run good and shift good.

The rivets holding the VIN plate on dash are specifically shaped - different from regular rivets...but thye can be reused without being noticed .....I put this plate on the new dash I installed.
