1997 ram 2500 trans problem any ideas

Default 1997 ram 2500 trans problem any ideas

my tranny wouldnt shift after it warmed up, ran strong till then. so i tore it down cleaned the valve body put it all back together, and now it runs strong in 1 and 2 but wont shift into D or OD could this be a tv cable issue? what do ya think?

Could be TV cable and/or solenoid connectors not connected correctly.

Also, how is fluid. Burned smelling? Did you check level in Neutral instead of park?

fluid was not burned did not slip just stopped pulling when hot but still had reverse. what is the proper procedure for setting the tv cable

And here is the factory adjustment for the TV cable, which btw, I doubt is the problem.

Yep., +1 on TV not being the problem. This is not a factor in pulling, hot or cold. It is for shifting.

If it does nothing when hot and is in gear, it is slipping. Or somehow fluid is dumping. Gov soleoid might be an issue, but I suspect ther is more.

it is strong now no slipping after cleaning valve body just wont go into d or od if i let off the throttle in 2 it will simply coast until i get back into the throtle then back to 2nd and it will also downshift to 1 st as i come to a stop

Direct drive clutch is either not engaging or slipping and OD has a solenoid on the VB.

Go to the FAQ/DIY section and download servivce manual. Tranny section has diagnostics and service.

only thing that concerns me is it is a different problem than i had before the valve body clean but at least it still pulls after it gets hot

about to give up hate to put alot of money in parts just to find out that didnt fix it may try the sensor as a last resort found a new rebuilt one for 900.00 5 year warranty shipped to my door. i know the tranny is not out it is too strong in 1 and 2 thanks on the link for the sensor cheapest one i have found so far
