I didn't know the air gap didn't come with an iat mount. Wonder why that is? I think you new spot for it will work fine. I'm pretty sure mine takes a 1/4 npt tap though. I'm sure you've seen this, but this guy did something similar.

Yep I had seen his web site before and was going to do the IAT like his. My Jeep air cleaner is the same as his Dodge one. But one day I was using my drill press and saw the TB spacer on the window sill and that was when I got the idea to use it instead. I don't like having to unplug stuff off my cleaner housing too so that was why I liked my idea.
Yep it has been discussed a few times in the "Which is better M1 or Air Gap" threads. The M1 guys always bring that up like it is a MAJOR selling point.

Well my trip for this weekend got canceled so I was out working on the Jeep today. Finally got the rear drive shaft loose. The u-bolts had sized to the yoke and I had to use a punch and hammer to get them loose.
Found out that I had a bad u-joint too. Some of the needle bearings had broke so I'll be putting a new 1350 u-joint in before I put it all back together.
Here are my shafts made by High Angle Driveline.
Next I got the headers loose from the exhaust and engine and pulled them out.
I sure wish pulling them was as easy as writing this.........................
So I use my angle grinder and some scuffing discs and cleaned up all the old gasket material off the headers.
And last for the day I got the broken bolt out of the transmission mount. I have been soaking it for a few days with penetrating fluid.
Tomorrow I hope to have the transfer case dropped. That will take a while because I have to take the shift linkage off first and that isn't an easy process.

Got some toys in today. Came by FedEx instead of the Brown truck. Jegs seems to always ship with them. When I was waiting for my drivelines to show up from JE Reel they came late because the dang nab Fed Ex truck had an accident. We lost power that afternoon too. Well guess what?? The damn Fed Ex truck ran into a power pole coming up the street. They wouldn't let me go 1 mile up the road and get my stuff. I ended up having to wait 2 days before they brought me my new drivelines.
So I have been trying to find a water neck for the Magnum engines that looks nice. So I finally found this from Jegs but of course they only had chrome or black. I really wish they had it in blue but no such luck.
One of the big reasons I like these type water necks is the o-ring instead of a gasket.
Mounted on the engine. Am going to use a 180* thermostat instead of the stock 195*.
I also picked up the preformed hose for the water bypass which I did not know they offered. I was just looking around on Jegs website and lucked upon it by chance. This should make hooking this up easier than just using a piece of hose.
On the engine.
I also got the Stage 8 Locking Bolts for my headers.
And not that I'll need it tomorrow but a jug of Water Wetter for when I do fill the rig up with coolant.
Hoping that I will get some work done on the Jeep this weekend. I am getting real close to having it ready for the engine to come out. Then do a little cleanup on the frame and rerouting of some hoses.

Probably some of the best photos for a build thread I'm privileged to read. Fire in the "whole", sounds close. K.
Edit:Whole= Adjective-entire,complete/Adverb- Novelty of something/Noun-anything that is complete.
Fire-ignition. Culmination of a project to fire it up. And great photos!
Edit2: I have to remember this is Wildman's build thread. Fire in the whole is a play on Fire in the hole for a coal fired boiler.
I'm sure he has steps mapped out for the correct terminology for start up/test and run.
