Pulling my 360, for dummies
So is it easier to pull with tranny attached or separate them before hand?
What needs to come out for it to clear minus the radiator, fuel lines, and starter? How much benefit for taking the hood off?

Taking the hood off always makes it easier to work on you truck. Pulling the engine if you don't take it off you will damage it. When in doubt take it off. I am no expert but have pulled a few engines. Every time I say I think it will clear something get bent or broke. It causes headaches and costs money. Get everything out of the way. Be sure to mark your hood so it lines up right when you get it back on.
I always pull the hood to remove an engine. It's a lot easier than yanking everything in front. On trucks with lift, I also let all the air out of the front tires, to lower it some. Pull JUST the motor, leave the trans in the truck. (watch out for the crank sensor though, might wanna pull that before you yank the motor.)
Thanks fellas... You can be sure Ill be posting a ton of questions when I get her started, and hopefully reciprocate the useful info to others when I'm done!

If you are pulling the motor, support the trans. If you just let it flop, the t/c will indeed leap off.... (makes a mess, don't ask how I know this.....) Once the engine is out of the way, I just use a length of chain, and a couple bolts to keep the trans from flopping down. Gotta be creative in finding a place to secure things, so that ya don't break anything, and the chain will keep the trans up.
I cut a 1x4 and drilled two holes to insert bolts to hold TC.....when I was dropping and reinstalling tranny (a couple of times....because it was so fun!) But that ora chain is a good idea. Dropping it out of there can cause damage, as well as the above referenced mess! Gotta block up front of tranny when you get it loose.
