Based on what you've already gone through, separation is a good contender as the issue. Here's mine last fall.

It was not visible 6 hrs before this, but it was felt no matter what. Rotated front to back and it followed. Then driving up to Tahoe....it really let loose.

There was only a slight height difference between the rows of tread in the middle of the tire that was not visible when weight was on the tire. Once the tire was jacked off the ground, the approximately 1/4" tread height difference was visible only on VERY close inspection. On the inside of the tire, it looked like someone had folded the inner wall over on itself.

If the spare tire on your truck is roughly the same size as your regular tires, simply put the spare on the front and drive with it on each side to see if it is indeed one of the two front tires causing the issue.

spare is 245, tires on there are 285. i don't think it will work going 60 mph over a bump.

Ah, I need new tires anyway. I think the best thing is to take the mechanic on a ride, the problem is that I need to get out of the city and onto a highway, so it could be a one hour round trip to take out of a mechanic's day.

He said he would work with me and probably do it tomorrow. I will loet you guys know more as I get more info, but keep firing away at what you think it might be.

Rotate your tires, and see what happens. If the problem is the same, then, tires are more than likely NOT the problem.....

I had a tire on my van with broken belts.... it wasn't obvious, and I couldn't even feel it running my hands over the tires, it had a bit of a wobble to it for a few days, then it got REALLY bad, and I couldn't even go 35 MPH without the van attempting to shake itself apart. Two new front tires, now smooth as silk.

One of my brand new 35's is way out of round (well, at LEAST one) and it is causing almost identical symptoms. Hopefully new tires fix both our headaches!

Thanks for giving me something else to try at the shop.
I've been watching your threads since we have a similar issue. Mine started after I had my tires rotated. I've had them balanced twice, and next time I will just have them move the fronts to the rear again and see what happens.

I rotated them after the tie rods, trac bar and first alignment. Still had the problem. Then I rotated them back.

But maybe all the tires are messed up because I drove with both sets (front and rear) on the rear axle when i did moves forgetting to overinflate the tires towing/hauling 3K.

Also, sears balanced them with those sticky lead strips. I heard they aren;t good for balancing.

I am guessing I need a new set of tires. It is hard to come by 285/75/16 tires to play around with.

But this darn shaking is really driving me nuts.

Basically the mechanics have no clue what could be doing it, and the only thing that is the same is the tires.

NOTE: my left front tire is pretty worn. The wear has no tread from the outside and gets better when you get all the way inside. Visibly the tire looks like it was shaved from left to right where the right side looks like normal wear and good tread depth.

My wheels have the sticky weights too. I was told that because of my wheels, they couldn't put regular weights on them.
