If the ground is one that is needed for some of the sensors or the PCM, that is where the problem would be. The ground to the lights can be fine - they all ground to fender or frame.

Thanks guys for all your help. I cleaned the grounds (which I found the ground wire by the alternator was loose) and also changed out the ASD relay, which the old one was nasty looking. So far two days and no problems so I hope it continues to run fine. If it doesn't, next will be the crank sensor (which I found with the lift, looks accessible through the fender well above the frame, looks like pretty clear shot). Thanks again for everyones help

Thanks guys for all your help, finally got around to doing it, and sure enough there was so much oil and dirt on the sensor that I dunno how it read anything. Wouldve been a quick job, but didn't figure out the trick of going through the wheel well with the splash guard removed until about 2 hrs after cussing at the truck and the space. After that took about 15mins with me and a buddy working on it. One on top and the other from under the truck. That is definitely the trick for any of you out there gonna try and tackle this.

Some of the aftermarket sensors don't preform well in our engines. Dealer part is the best bet.

I had all kinds of issues with a Napa crank sensor.
Dealer only.
