Question 2001 Ram dash

I just got the truck and seen the problems that it had.

Now I am going the list of fixing at what needs to be worked on.

So I finished with the engine problems, so i figured, I should start with the dash area.
Top of the dash is like gone ( from what I heard to was a bad start from the beginning ) and started replacing a switch and AC controls....
The minute I started to loosen the screws/bolts for the items on the dash, the back part of it started to break and crumble.....
Whats the deal with that.....????
Now i have to do is start super gluing the parts to the dash or get another dash carrier....
But I am afraid that I might run into the same problem once I get another dash carrier....????

Can anyone help at what to do now and are there an aftermarket companies that can fix this problem.....????

Top of the dash is notorious for disintegrating if you look at it cross-eyed.... several sources for new dash tops. LMC truck has 'em, and another company that another member will surely mention. (I don't recall the name just off-hand.)

Did you fix the plenum?

Welcome to DF!

LMC makes full dash replacements, I think you can get them for just over $200. You can buy dashskin's but they need something to bond to.

You can also get new ones from the dealer that are the ABS plastic I think, so they won't crack all to hell..

I think it was gdstock that got one from a different supplier, can't remember the name either.

When I got my truck 2 huge pieces were missing from the top of the dash. I went to Pull- Apart to get one and at home realised it was the wrong one. So I used my dremel and cut out some pieces and appoxyed them in. Sanded it down really nice, and repainted and cleared it. It was custom work lol. And now, it looks brand new, dosen't look like anything was wrong with it. As it was a fun experience, it all could of been avoyded if I got the right dash piece. XD
