Nothing in that "kit" if fabricated...it's all Ebay or Asia bought parts that you can get yourself without paying his markup. You can walk into an Oreilly and buy everything in that "kit" for about half of what he's charging. Except of course if you want red fans and blades, then you should buy the kit.
$50 2'x4' diamond plate(local)
$96 2x 16" fans (online)
$20 Relays (online)
$30 Inline temp switch adapter (online)
$30 Temp switch 185F (online)
$40 1/2" x 1/8" aluminum angle (local)
Now THAT's a kit. It's well designed, thought out, and includes fabricated items that usually can't be bought around the corner. The built it profit you're paying is for the time and money it takes the seller to actually make and assemble certain components.
I usually make my own stuff when I can so I wouldn't buy a kit like that but I see it as a perfect option for someone without the skills to fabricate or modify something to work.
If someone needs this swap, and can't make their own parts...that kit looks good.
I have tne fans all mounted and wired and working. Still need to mount the coolant recovery and window washer tanks. I was having some trouble finding a run/acc wire to connect to for the relay coils. So for now they are hot all the time and the temp switch controles the relays. The fans put out alot of air so it should work very well in this desert heat here in Nevada.
my fans are hot all the time too, as in directly wired off of battery.. it isn't a problem.. it's kind of nice, actually, in that the fans cool after I've parked.. if the stat is still open, which i would assume it is if the controller is indicating 180*+, the convection effect will still be moving fluid through the engine somewhat..
and, the fans have never just engaged for no reason.. i'd leave it and call it a day..

I bought and installed the TCP kit. Installation went very well, and it works great. The kit was missineg one little piece - one of the 8 plastic clamp pieces taht hold the fan. I coantacted them and asked if they could send one. They sent 4 at no cost, and I had it in two days.
The TCP kit is probably one of the most expensive ones out there, but their customer service was excellent - and that is worth quite a bit in my book. Quality of the work on the parts was great. Programming was pretty simple with three different temp setttings and ranges. When running around town (my office is 10 blocks form the house) liekt o and from the office or post office, the fans trypically do not come on until I turn on AC. Running a 180 stat and AC running, fans keep temps down sometime under 180 (I runa a 180 stat and tune)

Overall, I could not be happier with the TCP fans. I even kind of chuckle when I pull up and stop somewhere and the fans are running. It does make a specific sound that makes peoplke turn and look!
I considered doing that first but one of the reasons that I wanted to convert it was due to the limited access to the front of the motor.
I still need to make the other pieces but I have had too many things going on. They should be easy enough to make. Just need to get the time to finish it.

Yeah if I was to buy a Kit then it would probably be the TCP just from researching them.
