Thumbs up white 2001 5.9 ram 1500 Mod suggestions

o.k. so I am new and I am looking to mod it.....I will addmit. I got this truck about two weeks ago it's been in my name for a while and used as a hunting truck. The truck is a single cab and 4x4 it is a laramie SLT. I don't know much about dodge and it's an upgrade from a ford ranger xlt. I want to upgrade the headlights for sure and want to know what else to do with it that would make it stand out. I did the same thing to my ranger the last couple of years but the head is cracked. so now i have my favorite body style of truck i have loved the rams since 94 when the new body came out. the first and second gen are the best though. anyway i just wanted to say hello and that i have been learning a lot on here and this is a great forum

Fix the plenum!!!!!!

Before you do anything else, and even if it's not blown at least check it very closely to make sure.

Then get some big tires

Then get gears to compliment your giant tires so it's not a dog

Then get headers and a tuner from hemi fever.

Then pull the engine and stroke it to a 408 with upgraded cam/heads/valve train.

Then depending on your fininacial status you will either have one badass truck, or be homeless. But either way you will roast people on the street and eat mud for breakfast!

First, if your headlight housings are yellowed or holding moisture, replace them with a set of 'clears' off of Ebay. It's just a crystal clear housing...very sharp and clean looking.

Then, check out an HID kit designed for that housing, and install or have a shop install.

I hate the clear 3rd brake light / bed light, and you can buy a red one to replace the whole thing. Might sacrifice the bed light because as far as I know they don't make a red and clear lens to replace the stock one.

The taillight housings themselves are also on my ugly list and Ebay has LOTS of options if you want to purchase a bolt on set that better suits your needs. Just do a quick search, scan through a few pages looking for ideas, and jump on something that strikes you as attractive.

Externally, not much else to do except suspension, wheels, tires, and things like brush guards or running boards.

WOW thanks for the replies guys.. I am not a fan of the tail lights myself already been looking at changing them all out. I like the look of the halo lights and thinking of gettin a set. Also I have read a lot about the plenum problem this truck has not shown any signs of it being bad it had been sitting on a concrete pad out of the weather for 6 years so other than being a hunting truck with scratches it's in great shape. I have a tank for a front bumper already on it will post a better pic of it later. thanks for all the ideas.

What up. I see you are my neighbor. I have some lovely "custom" rear tail lights that I will trade you for your stock ones. Interested?

Those would look much better if you just paint the black part red to match the truck.
