Smear some flavor of lubricant on it. Hell, even talcum powder would help.

clear any CEL codes by disconnecting negative battery cable and turning on headlights for 30 seconds. this drains the capacitors that hold pcm memory.

evap codes won't come back for about 2-3 days, until some number of starts/stops/miles, etc accumulate. evap codes are almost always just split vac lines around evap cannister, under hood evap system. cut off rotted ends or replace the pieces of hose. there's all sizes from 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4

thanks guys, got the codes cleared so now thats all good.truck idles better now with new CPS but i found another problem.seems like theres a crap load of vacumn at the PCV valve.when i pull the hose off truck runs way better.im pretty sure i know what that means and it makes me a little angry at myself.did the plenum gasket a few years ago but did not use the hughes kit.now ive got another kegger sitting on the shelf already to go,but im not looking forward to that job.just want you experts to kindly verify that i have identified the problem correctly.time to start reading.

thanks again.

If I'm not mistaken you have full manifold vacuum at the PCV valve.

im not exactly sure charlie but theres enough vacumn there to make the PCV valve rattle.plus ive lost a pile of oil in the last month.

Replace the PCV valve with one from the dealer. Aftermarket units don't always have the correct flow rate.

The PCV valve is SUPPOSED to rattle when it is operating properly.

heYyou the current PCV is 2 months old from the dealer.i took it off and cleaned it out was fairly clean.problem i found was when the pcv was disconnect truck ran fine.soon as i hooked it back up the stalling problem came back.if i put my thumb on the end of the hose going to PVC valve the truck will stall.man im really perplexed.just read through about 40 pages of the be all end all plenum thread but am still no further ahead.took a look down the throttle body an there is oil pooling down there.not as much as some peoples but its there.

cheers.

PCV is just a controlled vacuum leak. Sounds to me like it is time to pull the throttle body, remove the IAC valve, and clean things out. That's the usual cause of stalling. Especially if it will run with a big vacuum leak.....

How many miles on your truck? have you fixed the plenum?

I have done the plenum on my truck, dealer PCV valve, yet, I am still going thru a quart of oil about every 200 miles..... I consider that "excessive"...... Now, bear in mind, I have 178K miles on my truck..... and I am pretty sure the valve seals are shot. (nice blue cloud when I drive away in the mornings.) I am unsure if valve seals could account for that kind of consumption though. (would be nice if it were that easy...) Truck doesn't smoke at all after the initial first drive of the day.
