i was just thinking how sad it is that Dodge made all these little changes to the transmission over the 94-01 years that make the year model interchange so difficult, but they never actually improved it worth a damn.

glad you found your problem.

I had a similar problem back when I installed the HD borg warner solenoid for a 48re in my 2001 46re.

The BW solenoid has 2 grooves in it, and on first install I put it in the groove that didn't insert the solenoid far enough into the valve body. Check to make sure your solenoid doesn't wiggle at all when you touch it after a pan pull. If it does, it needs to be inserted further and engaged on the second groove. remove that collar that hooks it in place and side it in the groove closest to the plug end, then reinstall the collar and torque to spec.

It could indeed be the wrong part as there are parts that differ by year, but check that first.

There's really no reason to upgrade that solenoid until you're pushing considerably more horse power, and by that time, more needs to be upgraded on the tranny than just a solenoid.

i noticed that there were 2 grooves, but the solenoid is seated correctly.... its the transducer that's my problem, well more or less having the incorrect bracket, so there is nothing holding the transducer in, so it just falls out under throttle.

And regarding the BW solenoid....I did a road test...with my car trailer in tow. Drove over 200 miles to my dad's house. Moved his tractor. Drove 12 miles to my son's house. Dropped pan, swapped OEM solenoid and installed BW solenoid, refilled and drove 200+ miles home (warning - hot trans fluid is hot!)

BW solenoid gives a measureable difference in shifting. Whoever stated that BW is worthless is being too generic and unspecific. I have purchased a number of these from electrical advantage off e-bay. Never a problem with any of them.

Glad you found the issue and it will be a simple and quick fix (well, after troubleshooting it!)

i bought the solenoid, and transducer from electrical advantage too. glad you had good luck with them. their customer service is very very good. im heading to the dealer in about an hour. hopefully my truck will be up and running in a couple hours.

question.....the rubber gasket that came with the filter that i bought from advance sucks.... the pan leaked like crazy after i put it back together, and filled it up..

any of you guys have a trans pan gasket you recommend? tired of seeing trans fluid leaking. especially when its dripping my my head when im under my truck, gets rather annoying!
