Stock timing chain is morse style. Rather prone to stretching, and, if you are over 100K, it's past time for a new one.

Double roller is more accurate, and less prone to stretching. Changing my timing chain and gears was the single biggest perceived performance improvement I had done for my truck. That was at right around 168K though...

With that many miles on your trans (if it is automatic) I would certainly do as HeyYou mentioned in earler post. Drop pan, inspcet for any junk, and swap out solenoids, If it is slipping, a rebuild will certainly be coming with larger tires and gears...

It is automatic. Any general estimate on a rebuild for a tranny?

Anywhere from 1200, to over 2 grand. Depends a lot on what rates are like in your area... Finding a trustworthy transmission shop can be fun too....

That is kind of what I was figuring. How hard is it to find d60 stuff? What do those prices look like?

D60 stuff is readily available online.... for the new stuff... Finding it used is a bit of a chance thing. In some places, the stuff is everywhere, others, rare as hens teeth. They were common axles under a fair few trucks.... but, you would need on out of a dodge, to make the swap easy. They were under all second gen 3/4 and 1 tons.... rear depended on weight rating, and engine/trans combo. There is a thread that goes into detail on that in the faq section.

Last time I was at the yard, there was a 97 sitting in there, with D60's under it.... most of the rest of the truck was gone, but, the axles were still there. They CAN be found, just gotta look, and be patient.

What i would do is check over the whole truck good, change all the fluid top to bottom, and check all the common problems everyone has mentioned above!

http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/3148710175.html
if that gives you an idea of prices on craigslist it is 3rd gen but has disc brakes would be nice improvment on stopping.
