Default trans fluid pumping problem 1979 2500 4x4 5.9gas

changed tranny in m truck pulled from a working truck new filter and fluid
worked finr for about 50 miles and now it will pull for 30 seconds or so and then no pull i put a clear line on at the radiator and it will pump for 10 to 15 seconds an then stops
while it is pumping i hear a noise like a whine at idle in neutral after it stops pumping it will start to pump again after a couple min and then stops again it will do this all day if you let it sit and idle some one said sounds like a torque converter any ideas heeeeeeeelp

First, check and make sure it is indeed full. Gotta check in neutral. (but, I think you already knew that. )

If fluid level is good, drop the pan, and see that the filter is installed correctly, and has its o-ring in place.... make sure the o-ring isn't nicked.

Is that a 79, or 97??

97...or it was on other post....same transmission.....just a little different issue....

It would be better to keep this in one thread. Mutiple threads only confuses ecceryone....or at least me...

Response time on questions can vary. Some helpful hints...a good title on the thread so others know what the iisue is. Some members may only read threads on topics they know about.....

Time of day may have an impact....due to people having to work, but even then, someone is always around...

I am the least patient person I know....so I probably should not be the one to say, just try to be patient. Someone will answer.. There is not a more helpful forum around than here.

Which line do you have the clear line on? And where is it...

Get a used trans from the yard..... was your clear line before, or after, the check valve?

the clear line was before the check valve has been eliminated already
i did pulled it myself and drove it before the pull
the cheapest one i have found from a yard is 700.00 with 160k to 190k on them i can get a rebuild for 900.00 plus fluid over 1000.00 just hate to take that chance i know somewhere someone has had this same problem
just dont wanna have the same problem a third time

Its an internal trans problem. Why the second one did the same thing is probably just poor timing...... Getting the trans rebuilt will also get you a warranty, so, if it starts doing the same thing within a few months, you will have some recourse. Considering how much used ones are in your area, the rebuild would be a better plan..... bring in your own fluid.
