Default 1997 dodge 2500 transmission problems

Hi i got a 1997 dodge 2500 with the 46re transmission have a problem with it in third and fourth gear. it will shift into third for a quick second after i let off the gas while in 2nd then jumps straight to fourth gear. but it has no power to pull in third or fourth it just looses speed and if you push the gas it drops straight down to second gear.

Recheck your fluid level. Keep in mind, you have to check it in neutral. Checking in park will give you a false reading.

What speed is it shifting into fourth at? Shouldn't even try below 45 MPH or so.

It shifts anywhere from 45 and up but like I said you push the throttle to speed up drops all the way down to second

Try adjusting the TV cable. Procedure is in the service manual. (and posted on the forums in several threads as well... but, the search isn't the best here. )

Not saying it's the problem, but , in this thread is the factory adjustment. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-in-trans.html

and in this link , it says how to screw around with it. http://www.bionicdodge.com/Download/...Adjustment.pdf

Throttle postioning Sensor... located under the air cleaner on the Side of the Intake plenum. Easy $35.00 fix. It does know where your gas pedal is... must have a dead spot in it. All or none usually works because is unused ( how often you have it pedal to the metal?) The common area of use is worn out. Thats why it jumps as if you are flooring it.) Hope this helps. KOS
