i have 97 dodge ram 1500 and the felt on the ceiling is starting to sag. what should i do to fix it or should i have it replaced by a professtional? if i did have it replaced what would it cost, its a standard cab so would that make it cheaper?
Cheapest would be to get some material of your choice, and recover it yourself. There is a thread around here somewhere that a member did just that, and documented it.
I had a '95 Ram Extended Cab where the cloth material on the head liner sagged. I found some thumb tacks that were the same color as the liner. Used some medium /thick super glue and pinned it back up using those. Before adding glue figure out the number of tacks and install them dry first. This sounds rediculous at first but space the tacks evenly in rows w/ exact distances apart and it doesn't look bad at all. Once you have them in place remove one at a time and apply the glue and reinstall. Using the medium to thick super glue is much easier to work w/ than the thin liquid stuff.
You fellas my laugh, but I just pulled the fabric off and used a sos pad to get the foam liner off. From there I just sprayed it with some leftover sprayon rubber coat, the kind used for tool handles. Its ok but probably could use another coat.
But I did get the seal of approval from my 15 year old daughter who seems like at this point doesn't like anything I do, so that's a plus. Haha
