Default Blend Door or just more Wild Vents?

So now my vents have gone from blowing normally until the engine is under strain to blowing out the at the windshield all the time. If I put the vent selector **** on floor vents it will come out there and at the windshield. If I put it on mid level vents it only comes out at the windshield. Is this problem my blend door or just more wild vent problems? I replaced two check valves that were bad with new factory CV. These were on the lines that go into the firewall with the AC line and the other went behind the motor. I will have to get another one to replace the final CV on the line that goes along the firewall back behind the motor with the wiring harness. The air is always cold no matter where it blows from. I don't have Cruise control and the 4WD works fine.

Just to verify some thing I read in the Wild Vents thread. The CV should be placed so the vaccum can be pulled toward the intake correct?

Does check valve color matter?

I checked them both ways and I'm still getting the same results. Oh well maybe I'll try the vaccum canister in this thread.

Where is the vaccum canister located? I've heard at least three different locations.

Under the cowl cover at the base of the windshield. Kinda in the middle.

Double check all vacuum lines for cracks....small crack in one will give same symptoms. and might not be apparent just by looking.

I've read both FSM and searched here for multiple key words but I can't find anything to help me out. The only detailed information I could find was how to test behind the controls for a vacuum leak. I know I have a vacuum leak, I just need to find where. Once again I'm having wild vents.

This is what I found under the cowl. I suppose it is the vacuum canister I'm looking for. If you blow in one end it pushes the air right back out the same nozzle. I suppose I should test it with the vacuum gauge.

This is a canister inside the dash with a single green vacuum line attached. That is a metal line on top of it.

Here it is in the manual.

This is a canister under the dash in the center. It has a rod connected to the top of it that runs up over the top of the black box in question. The yellow vacuum line is attached to the bottom. I'm just guessing because I can't see but I believe the some sort of door affixed to it. Maybe the blend door??

This is yet another vacuum canister directly behind the 4WD shifter toward the front of the engine. There is a red and brown vacuum line attached to it. Don't really know what this one does!! The second shot shows it is right behind the floor vents on the drives side near the gas pedal.

The only vacuum I can find that I don't know where goes is the black line. it goes under the dash and into the firewall. I'm guessing it is the line that enters the firewall directly by the AC condenser line. I'm going to pick up a vacuum gauge tester. How am I going to find the leak though? Maybe running some sort of smoke through the system?

Here is what all the manuals say. This was taken from Haynes.

Do you mean cruise control doesn't work, or don't have? There is a vacuum line that branches off and runs over and under battery tray, for cruise control. Check for leak or crack on that line. The 2nd pic is your recirc door with green vac line to actuator.

No cruise control on this truck, it isn't equipped with it.
