So five inch lift that would indicate 35" tires are planned, start looking for 4.56 gears sets. To help a little more and remove the death flash look at getting a SCT tuner.

Wouldn't the steering have to be adjusted for a lift that high? These ball joints aren't the toughest on the planet to start with.

An alignment after the lift is a given, after three inches of suspension lift then things get interesting and expensive.

FYI that kit does not come with any 3" lift shocks even though they're pictured...

You're paying $400 for coil spacers (not coil springs), AALs, and control arms and a track bar bracket that you don't need. You could buy $80 3" lift spacers, maybe a 1" AAL for another $80 and then spend $120 or so on shocks. Much cheaper that way, but it's up to you...

And as merc said, if you're gonna run 35" tires you'll need to get 4.56 gears.

could just buy 1 ton coil springs to lift the front and blocks for the rear.

Be it little he does need the track bar bracket, it's only 3/4" but it is needed if he likes his tires. The lower control arms are also needed they are 3/4" longer than stock.

Edit: Unless you know exactly what parts you need to lift a truck "right" buy a kit and a good one.
