Default After-market Converter.

Transmission guy called me this morning to say he got it rebuilt and when driving it noticed the lack of power. Said heat exposure did it in. He couldn't even get the pump out of it. I explained I did the plenum days before he got it. He said he remembered me telling him that so he checked the cat. Stopped up.... Go figure.
Who's got the best direct fit converter at a reasonable price?

magnaflow has one for around 250 i think. other than that,oe replacement from advance, or autozone and the like, is the best way to go. unless you want to buy a universal cat and have it installed. you can get those for around 60.

Rather not do a "universal" thing. I've looked a little but images are deceiving. Probably have to take fifty measurments off the old one to get the right one. It's gonna get gutted for the time being and depending on how it runs and how many warning lights come on, it may not get replaced. Thanks.

if you throw a cel just install a non fouler on the post cat o2 sensor.

make sure you remove both o2 sensors before you gut it.

just get a 3" i/o universal cat. it will weld right up perfectly.

Lol..non-fouler.... This is a pretty good place. This cat is a dual in/single out mounted right at the Y. If it weren't for the avalanche of mechanical stuff I've done to my Tahoe and my wifes Ram over the last 6 weeks I would just get a converter and not think anything about it, but damn, I'm broke. I worry about gas mileage going down hill. It wasn't the best to start with.

its only going to cost you about 6 bucks for the spark plug non-foulers. you need 2 of them to make what you need.

Cat won't have much, if any.. affect on fuel economy. Actually, with the fixed plenum, and an exhaust that will actually flow.... you will probably get better gas mileage.
