PCV valve and spark plug question.
I feel like such a newbie asking this, but on my 2001 Ram with the 5.9L, I cannot get the pcv valve out of the valve cover to save my life. I'm not a bodybuilder but I'm not weak either, and I pulled and pulled, nothing. On my 1995, a slight tug removes it, and a new one just clicks into place. I'm at a serious WTF moment right now. Also, I plan to replace the plugs in this truck soon, Champion 436's the best way to go? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!
Well, that's a new one. When your pulling on it, is the gromett the Valve fits into trying to come out as well?
If you pop the hose off the pcv, and cover it with your finger with the truck running do you feel suction?
Must be seriously baked on...Worst case I suppose is pull the valve cover off and try to get at it from undernieth.
EDIT: Also, yes, Champion Copper's are what these trucks like best.

From what I understand the Valve covers are fairly easy to remove. Detach all hoses and just bolt off. While your in there, be sure to replace the Gasket ($3-4)
with the hose off, take a vice grip and see if you can turn it to break it free. 436 's are champion truck plug and are more heavy duty and cost more than the regular champion coppers. One guy said his ping went away using the truck plug.

Try running the engine to warm that old, dry grommet -- or just keep your new PCV valve on hand and tackle it one day when you return home after a longish drive -- then soak the ID of the grommet good with silicon spray while twisting the valve this way and that to work the lubricant around. The valve should then come out more easily. And you should replace the grommet while you're at it.

I finally got it out. Actually, I was pulling on the crankcase breather on the passenger side of the engine. Apparently, a 1995 318 and a 2001 360 have backwards setups on the location of the PCV :/ I felt like such a dumbass.
My pcv is on the right bank of the engine, passenger side, and my breather is on the left bank.
My pcv was an absolute b1tch to get out, ended up ripping it in half and pulling it out with needle nose. New one slipped right in.

For anyone who follows along later and wants to avoid that unpleasant feeling: The PCV is plumbed to the intake manifold, the breather elbow to the air hat. It doesn't matter at all which side either is on -- you can reverse them if you like as long as it's PCV->intake manifold, air hat to the opposite valve cover.
