Default 2001 dodge ram 2500 brake trouble

I just got back from the auto repair place, I took the truck in because I thought I had a bad brake line, it was losing fluid from the drivers side rear. They told me the brake line is ok it connects to this valve that is leaking (i think that is what he called it) it has an arm on it that goes down to the rear axle. They are quoting me 800 bucks to replace because they have to order this part from a dealer. So I told him to order it however, I just thought I would ask anyone else if they had this problem. Seems awful pricey.

thanks

The valve is a load sensing valve, that varies pressure to the rear brakes..... Dodge stopped replacing them, and starting simply removing them, and putting in a soft line instead. (bypassing the valve completely....) I suggest you tell them to cancel the order, and just get the soft line instead.

Sounds like a great idea, I did find a tsb that talked about this very thing. One question where the brake lines from each wheel connect up to where this valve went to on the axle, I would have to install a t fitting and then just hook the new brake line from the main line and then re-connect up each wheel line. And of course bleed it.

Does that sound correct?

This part will do the trick. It is for versions of this truck that do not have the sensing valve. Thanks for the advice guys I will have my truck back on the road tomorrow.
