Default 98 Ram SLT help with the black plastic molding

Hello. i will start off with I'm a new member and I don't know much about trucks as you will quickly see with my question I purchased a 1998 Dodge Ram SLT for my teenage daughter. It has a black appears to be plastic molding / lining down the side of the truck. It is peeling on one side. I looking for help on what this part is called and where I can buy a replacement. Or if I should just have it removed. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

The part itself is peeling, or it's peeling as in coming off the truck? Post a pic.

The actual part itself is peeling. I tried to upload pic but it says it failed. I'll try it again later.

+1...... From what I can make out in that pic, looks to me like paint peeling "below" the the strip. That piece is itself is not going to peel unless maybe of course its a "sport version". Which it doesn't look like in that tiny *** pic.

No it isn't a sport. The molding is peeling you can see white spots on it where it has. I cannot find the part looking under molding anywhere online. Can I paint this if it cannot be ordered?

I think it IS paint...... Scuff it up, clean it really well, and spray it.
