Default Can I add another muffler to make the exhaust quieter?

98 dodge ram 1500. Stock exhaust pipe, with a $65 flowmaster super 44 muffler to replace the stock OEM muffler that had rust holes.
I have just started college, and Im quite stingy with my money right now. I found another super 44 muffler on the side of the road, that surprisingly looks all right, and wondered if I could put another one behind the one on there to make it quieter.

Would it make to much back pressure, or about the same as the OEM muffler? Cause I don't want to do something to cause harm.

It's been on there for 2 years, and I am just getting tired of how loud it is.
Thanks.

assuming you have enough room to fit them, then yes you can. the second muffler would reduce the sound a little, probably not a whole lot. it won't hurt it.

if you really want to quieten it down, consider selling the flowmasters to someone else for a few bucks, and buy a big ol' stock muffler like a walker 21351 for about $70.

What about adding a resonator? maybe that would help. I'm also interested in making my rig quieter. I'm fed up with the low rumble sound.

I made the mistake of putting the same muffler in mine - a V6 ram. now, every time I leave a stop light, every fool in a rice burner thinks I wanna race him. Not to mention I removed the cat, so mine is PUNISHINGLY loud. I wont make this mistake again.

i did the same thing i didnt wanna pay 300 for a new cat so i ran true duals no cats with flowmaster bullets and man they were ungodly raspy and loud so they put a set of thrushs right behind the bullets and it does sound good pretty quite almost stock but still the true dual performance.
