FIRST FILL: 73 miles/3.2gal= 22.8 mpg. It was a city/interstate mix with about 20-30min total idle time, but still pretty happy

Efficiency items on the list:
-Add I/C
-Get a new air filter (reused the old one)
-better thermostat, 4bt and 47rh both running too cold
-16cm-->12cm ex housing on turbo for spool
I have been checking it with larger fuel quantities and have been coming up with hand calculated 19-21 mpg.

Thats with town, interstate, backroads, 2-3 cold starts daily, and an average of 20-30 minutes idle time daily.

not bad. i just thought you would have had new gas mileage numbers since you have been driving it for over a month now.

I wish I had some more accurate numbers, but it's tough not to idle for extended times when we've had subzero temps for days at a time and a few ice storms that I'm not about to hand scrape off at 6am lol...

But after some tuning of the VE pump I'm estimating:
175whp @1500rpm LESS than the 360 (360 made 195whp @4k RPM assuming 20% drivetrain loss)
~400ft-lbs @ ~1800rpm (360 made 265ft-lbs @3250RPM)

EDIT: The more specs I find, the more I start comparing it... Its pretty close to stock 89-93 5.9L, and comparable (if not better) than the 454 chevy big block torque

And after I'm satisfied with its overall reliability, my ole lady will start putting on the serious hwy mileage

lol. sounds like you should have just bought a first gen cummins. they don't have too hard of a time getting 22mpg while putting out lots of power. project rust bucket can put out nearly 1000hp and still get 27mpg when wanted.

But- I would hardly consider 850hp on 2 stages of nitrous to be "1000 hp". And DP mag also got a dodge 1 ton dually to 30 mpg...

I will let you know as soon as I have time to dam the front end, paper plate the rims, and drive 55 mph with no stops or lane changes from gas station to gas station on a flat interstate

But in all seriousness, I think with some discipline and air upgrades on the shelf 24-25mpg is obtainable in a 5,500lbs 4x4

And that would make a swap worth while to me!

it is actually 972.5hp if you want to get technical. would you complain about that type of power if you could still get 27mpg if you wanted

I've been really wanting to do this swap for a long while now. I am a diesel mechanic, so it killed me having a gasser that used to get the same mileage as a 15,000lb rig with a 14 liter engine.
