Default a/c leak

I recharged my a/c system last month & it lasted about 8 days, now it doesn't work & I imagine it all leaked out. Any ideas on common places for leaks? I assume the aluminum hose junction blocks that have O ring seals, but if any of you have been in my shoes before I assume you can help me save a little time. Otherwise, I am going to recharge it again & have a squirt bottle with lots of soapy water to spray on to see where the bubbles form.

If you had recharged using the stuff with dye, then you could look with u/v lite. Sometimes you can see the oil on hose fittings. You could recharge with the dye, then wait for it to leak and use u/v light to look for leaks. O rings are common leak points. Don't know if you'll have much luck using soapy water looking for refrigerant, not like air leak.

Evaporator core under the dash is a common leak spot. Put in the dye and run it for a while. Check the water that drips from under the truck for leaking dye mixed in.

+1 for the dye that's the easiest way. My parent's had a truck with a slow leak- a/c would blow cold for about a month then need recharged. I used some stuff recommended to me by a lot of people called Red Angel in it. It sealed it up and it's been about 6 months and the pressures are right where they're supposed to be. It also has dye in it so if it's still leaking you can find the leak. I'm usually not a big fan of stop leak stuff for a/c but so far it has worked great. I tried it on my trans am but I was loosing all the r134 in about 3 days and it didn't work. The seals on the compressor were bad. The stuff is pretty expensive- around $40- but it does have a $ back guarantee and they refunded my $ after it didn't work on the trans am. If you try it make sure to get the one that you put in the low side port yourself unless you have an injector.

Your buddy was correct on all points. It IS a pain..... and the whole dash DOES need to come out. Sorry man.

Replace the heater core as well while you are in there. Have the a/c system evacuated beforehand.....

Well it is a PITA, but the dash does not need to come out(of the truck) that is. It's not as bad as everyone thinks.

also take the caps off the high and low side ports, they have a valve stem that can also easily get bent, even by the use of the gauges. Take the cap off and see if you see any oil in there.
