Smile 99 ram 1500 window motor replacement

So, I picked one up new on ebay , Doorman brand for 44 bucs shipped. I started reading about it in my chiltons, and haynes, both piles of crap, and it says in one, the whole unit needs to be replaced. WTH? I think differently. Anyone ever done it or have any advice? Gonna try to tackle it this weekend.
thanx in advance.

Window needs to be up.
The plastic clips that hold the door panel on will break.
Take the speaker out.

Pretty simple after that. Just un-bolt it. and pop the new one in.

Replaced mine with a reman unit from AAP a few months ago.

very encouraging!
Window is up, and I have door panel clips. New speakers going in too
What about the spring preload though? Th chiltons says the window has to come out...so, not true...?
Heres a link to the motor if anyone needs it. I lied, it was 49.99 shipped.

Nah, the window can stay in.

If I remember correctly, there was some kinda cover plate too.

Honestly, the biggest pain for me were the plastic clips. One day I'll get around to replacing them.

Service manual thread is in the faq section. It's stickied, so will be near the top.
