Default 97 Ram 1500 Headaches

I installed a Hughes Airgap FI and a Huges Iron Ram 1.92's. I changed the heads do to a loss of compression on the No. 4 cylinder pulled the left head off and it was cracked between the valves on No.4. I changed to the Air Gap since the plenum gasket was out, and I didn't want to **** with it again. The 97 5.2 and 5.9's are the only ones that use plastic fuel rails (Hughes had never even heard of plastic rails) this made the Air Gap FI install a PITA you may be able to accomplish the install with them but I finally when and got the metal rails off of a 98 along with the fuel line that runs from the frame to the rail as the connections are different. The clips that hold the injectors to the rail are different as well I moded my origanals to make them work. Once the new rails were on the install was a breeze. Getting the fuel line ran up the back of the bell housing was a PITA. I also installed a Magnaflow 23285 it took a little love to get it lined up but not to bad. I also put new Accel Plugs, Wires, cap, and rotor on (distributor is a hell of alot easier to get to with the Airgap. The lifters hammered like a bitch when I first fired it up and the engine ran like hell. I took it for a short drive lifters quieted down but still ran like hell. Next day borrowed a scan tool came up with codes P0300 random multiple cylinder misfire, P0304 Cylinder No.4 misfire, P0307 Cylinder No.7 misfire. I reroutede the wires as per the TSB. No Change. So at this point I'm thinking "What the F***?!" Checked spark using a spark tester when I pulled the plug for the No.4 Plug to check compression I found the gap closed, checked No.7 same thing. I have no idea why. I regapped the plugs reinstalled now runs great only code is the down stream O2 whitch is not installed hope to get it in this weekend. If you have any questions I havevn't adressed about the top end work feel free to ask

The cheapest one you can find. All of the CAI's draw air from the exact same place as the stock system, so, you aren't really getting any colder air, you MIGHT get a bit better flow though..... (only noticeable at higher RPM....) So, don't spend a bunch of money on one, and expect to see any difference at all.

They don't filter as well as paper either. I don't trust any filter that I can see through.

CIA's like K&N draw their air from within the (hot) engine bay and stock like mine pulls air from the passenger side well through the corrugated plastic bs intake piece..but you, (HeyYou) already knew this

If you have seen one that doesn't, I would love to see it.

K&N, Spectra for instance do not draw air from the stock location. A Volant however does draw air from the stock location. Name: DSCF0740.jpg

Huh? They don't? They have the filters right there by the fender, and a 'box' around it.... still getting air from the same place. Got pics?? or links??
