Default Belt squeeling

The belt only seems to last 2 weeks before it starts squeeling. Never had a problem before I built the 408. All the local parts stores stock are gates belts, 2 part #'s, I have tried 2 of each.

Make sure the crank pulley isn't loose. I ran into some belt squealing after I rebuilt my motor, it turns out the pulley worked it's way loose yet it wasn't visibly wobbly while running.

Crank pulley is tight. I replaced the tensioner pulley and idler pulley when I built the motor. I just ordered a gatorback belt today when I was at work so we will see if that fixes it.

Mine didn't squeal but made a sound like a gazillion crickets chirping...I just replaced it with a gatorback last weekend. No sound at all now.

It's recommended that belt replacement is done with the new tensioner. Not to mention belt type/brand make a difference. I did the same thing, new tensioner old belt. New idler pulley, still noisy. Then bought the 'better' belt and a few rides later it started making noise again..long story short, several belts (brands) later I buy the 'cheap o' and quiet as can be

If you just replaced the pulley, might wanna replace the tensioner arm as well...

My Gates belt squealed like crazy. Put on a Dayco and it's quiet.
