Need help pleasewith shift linkage removal
Hello everyone, I need someones help here Im trying to remove my valve body out of my tranny, but in order to do that i need to remove my shift linkage. The problem is im having a really tough time with it I loosened but bolts on the wire cable plastic cable looking thing and the actual mechanical linkage and it still wont pop off.. here is a pic i got off this sight to show u guys
First off this is posted in the wrong section.. Nobody knows what you are working on. Car truck van what?? What year? It helps to post in the section that is for your vehicle.. And no there is no picture
thanks .. sorry i havent been back i didnt really think i would get any help.. its a 2001 dodge ram 1500.. with the 5.2 motor and the 46 RE tranny if that helps and.. my accumulator spring is cracked in the valvebody in the tranny.. i just need to remove that so i can remove valve body and replace it.. i appreciate your replies , and any help would be great
same here i have not been able to find any type of assistance with finding where the linkage is located on my truck..

I had the same problem.
On my 2000 base Durango with a 5.9 an 46re. What you need to do to remove it is I believe if I recall correctly is in order to remove the actual shift levers is the transmission has to be all the way down in First gear position .That being the lever pushed all the way forward to the front of the vehicle towards the engine bell housing.
On mine I had to put some elbow grease into it wedging one side an the another with a larger screw driver. The I got a wrench under it an popped it off with some forced leverage. This was while the transmission was still installed in the vehicle. An having removed the lines etc .So slam into first one way or another .An I believe you need neutral to remove the valve body. It's on YouTube like everything else.
I understand what your saying and the trouble your having removing the upper an lower shift levers.
