Oil Pressure changes

Just got my 95 back on the road after about a year of slow repairs (I was working on it with my 16 yr old son). Driving it this am I noticed pressure fluctuations at normal op temp. When cold, the gauge reads 40. At temp on the freeway, it fluctuates between 40 and just below the lower end of the white scale on the gauge. Oddly, the pressure got more steady, although no completely, as I slowed down.
I read in other threads that the sending unit could be loosing ground. I also read some other less than encouraging info about bearings, etc. I can report I have owned it since new and it has had regular oil changes always with Castrol and a new filter. Never noticed any metal in the oil. It is currently running 10w40, I believe, but will change it this week to 20-50. Was a little worried about the heavy oil in Cleveland as the weather is getting colder.
If the sending unit is a possibility, I believe it is in the back, but could not tell which side.
Appreciate any thoughts on how to proceed. My son will be driving it soon and he will likely not watch the gauges as I do.

Thanks Kejobe. If my needle moved like that, I would feel better. Mine jumps up and down, almost like an electrical issue or something. No slow deliberate movements. It also never, since new, went above 40. Did you add a high volume pump?
Nope. All stock. I dont know if it was changed before I bought it, but I never did.
If the needle is jumping aroung, the first thing Id look at is the wiring for the sender. Make sure all connections are good and clean. Could just replace the sender at the same time. I dont think its too much $.

20-50 in the winter why? It won't like it one bit. If you feel the need to put in a heaver oil find a 10-40 synthetic oil.
To see whats going on with your oil psi, install a mech gauge and see what it reads, then go from there.

Sorry, I don't know what a dsm is, but I figured heavier oil would help with pressure. I believe it originally required straight 30 weight for cold weather use.
Can you tell me where the sending unit is so I can hook up a manual gauge?
