Default ecu issues 2000 ram 5.2

Hey guys! My buddies band van needed a new ecu as it was cutting out most likely from heat. It's a 2000 dodge ram van 2500 with a 5.2.

I put a programmed refurbished ecu in and it ran great. For about 15 minutes. Then it started stalling out whenever the gas pedal was released. it would run like crap as well.

For kicks, I put the old ecu in and it runs just fine. Swapped it out again amd the fuel pump would not kick on. There was also a delay in the dash lights turning.on.

So guys, does it sound like this business sent a badly refurbished ecu?! Please help. they are leaving for tour on Friday

Thanks in advance everyone!

Alrighty. It's one of the guys trucks. So I can't do that. I'm assuming it was a bad refurbed ecu. I haven't gotten any backup on it but I think tjats what happened. W

So why take it out in the first place? And why not put it back in?

Yeah. It was a test to see if it was the new ecu or not. After the car gets warm and is in traffic, it dies and doesnt start back up for sometimes up to four hours. Thats what happened to the guys last night.

Got another ecu, same issue again. They state that they are pre-programmed ecus. Is there any particular procedure??

You are removing the negative battery cable first right? And what brand rebuilt is it?
