1997 Ram Sport Tuner what is a good choice?
Forgive me for being A.D.D and for asking a most likely redundant question around here, but I had heard 97 Rams have a different type of tuner required for them than the other years so I figured this thread was possibly ok to post, is this true?
Also what tuner for a 97 Ram yields the best results between mileage and power on 87 octane? I understand the best results are with higher octane but I mostly use 87. And what should I expect to pay for one?
Not looking for anything crazy just a cherry style topper for my already awesome cake.
Pretty much at the moment I have a stock 360 Ram with a ported & bored throttle body and I plan to keep it mostly stock with the exception of wanting to add a K&N filter for the stock intake system, 1.7 ratio Roller Rockers, headers & dual exhaust and a tuner.

I was under the impression that 97 could only use the MOPAR Performance PCM for an upgrade and SCT 98 and up. But, I am more often wrong then right. lol At least according to my girlfriend. lol

I have a fastman 50mm TB and SCT from hemifever on my 97 2500 4X4.When I first got it I loaded the 87 tune it was a little better but not a lot.So I loaded the 91 tune with 87 still in the tank and it ran better yet.I was really expecting to get some valve ping but it didn't.So the next tank I filled up with 93 and loaded the 93 tune it was a huge improvement over stock. My mpg didn't change at all I get between 12 and 13 with 4.10 gears and 265/75/16.
IMO it's the best bang for the buck that you can do.
