I got mine from PATC along with my shiny new transmission. You might find it cheaper elsewhere.

The always starting in Neutral thing will work, but if one day you really have to get moving in a hurry you're not going to be able to. The remote filter is better all the way around; it gets your anti-drainback function back, and it protects the transmission better than the internal filter ever could. Just do it.
