Holy crap batman! That's cheap!

Shop in Ga wanted $400 for duel, and he didn't even wanna true duel it, just wanted to duel out from the Y Pipe, plus I was supplying the tips and mufflers..... Expensive!

Isn't that what the mods are for?

Those brand name "cold air filters" are wayyyy overpriced. I would never pay that kind of money. Now, on my Dakota I did have a K&N FIPK kit with the shield around the filter to keep it isolated from the engine heat (supposedly) BUT I only paid $50 for it from another member who was parting out his truck. You can build one for $20.

The K&N reduces pumping losses. Cold or hot, worth the money or not, that's what it does. It's the same principle as doing an e-fan conversion and/or running underdrive pulleys to reduce parasitic drag, really. Less effort required to keep the engine going round and round means more power left to make the wheels go round and round.

Or, as VeeDub might put it:

But it's $300+ you could put towards, I don't know, HS 1.7's or an SCT.

Haha I could probably ship all the custom exhaust components to you for half the price of that shop in Georgia... LOL...

I agree, $300 bucks far too much for an intake which is nothing more than a piece of plastic and a filter. However i work at advance auto parts and i was able to get a pretty hefty discount off of the retail price so i think i paid like 200...yeah yeah i know still 5 times as much as a home made one. I'm not naive enough to believe that k&n doesnt fudge any numbers at all to sell products but hey i'll take my poopy dyno sheet i suppose lol. On a different note, $150 bucks is extremely low for a true dual set up...the only way i could MAYBE see that is if your dumping the pipes in front of the rear tires which would mean significantly less bending and pipe lengths

Not do able I have that set up and just in stainless pipe and the stainless muffler it was over $300, tag on another $100 for stainless band clamps, $100 more for the cross over, another $100 for the tips. I did the work myself so no labor, I would add 2hrs time for the job headers back.

I was quoted 85 to run a thrush one into 2 with dumps from the cat back. I would inspect their work though lol.

ok ok guys... Enough skepticism. Yes that is low. I did not use stainless steel pipe, i used High quality aluminized pipes with stainless steel mufflers (DynomaxVT). Also I used pre-bent pipes that were designed for Dodge dual exhaust. They are pretty cheap. Plus I can get other pipe for like $2.30/ft. The prebents are like $25/ea., and I did all the installation myself. I also used some stainless steel flex pipe to make the bend to the manifolds, which is working very well.
