The first one was bearings.. The other ones had cracked.. The cracks were pretty much identical with the last 3....

Most Recent.

Thats the second case..

I cant seem to find the other pictures at the moment but thats how they started... I saw the cracks before it got bad and was swapping them out.. Then the most recent I never saw a crack until it let loose and ripped apart..

See how the broken casting in those areas are dark/dirty, whereas the fresh break is clean and shiny.
Its dirty for a reason.. It dropped out of the truck when I pulled the linkage..Went straight into the ground... It was all fresh breaks cause I had just been under the truck a few days prior to check on everything and there was no cracks or anything loose..

Ive done it with every dodge and jeep I have owned.. This is the first one I ever had a problem with.. All of my cases went out after the front driveshaft was removed..

could that be what causes the t case to weaken, but not break till a later date... cus ive always stoped compleatly to switch to 4x4 hi or lo... and havent had this problem yet...(nock on... compressed wood chips, or whatever this desk is made of...)

y not just upgrade to a quick change... http://www.scsgearbox.com/4x4-transfer-cases.html

Ok explain how my t-cases failed then.... With NO front driveshaft in and not ever touching the 4wd lever once... Its a shift on the fly... You will not have any issues.. Simple... Whenever I would go for 4hi I take my foot off the gas and pull it back into 4hi and continue on my way... 4lo I always came to a stop and put it into neutral then 4lo...

No issues once with my 01 offroad edition.. My 02 Jeep and an 04 Hemi....
