Default I need a new motor!

I have a 99 1500 with the 3.9L V6 it has 228,800 miles on it and is finally starting to wear out. One of my friends wrecked his 98 1500 but and it has the 5.2L V8 is the transmission for the 3.9L the same as the one for the 5.2L? He sold the transmission but not the motor. Any help would be very helpfull!

The 5.2 will destroy the automatic that sits behind the V6.
Sorry.

What kind of shape is the rest of the truck in? If mint, V8 and a new trany, sell off the V6 tranny to recoup some of your coin. If the truck is in so so shape used V6 and sell it.

That's the problem. It's in ok shape some hail damage but the front bumper is bent pretty bad! I hydroplaned and hit a concrete barrier. I really don't want to sell it because it was my first car and I have kind of gotten attached to it. Will any 94-01 motor fit in it?

Yep, just use the manifolds and sensors from your motor, and any v6 from that range will bolt right in.

42RE is the only auto trans available with the V6.
