Default 97 ram 1500 SS/T trans issue

I am getting a loud whine coming from my transmission. It does not start until 20 mph and gets louder as i drive its hard to explain its a loud whine but kinda sounds like a grind. Also if i shift the truck into neutral while moving the noise goes away or if i am sitting stopped it will not make the noise. I just did a filter and fluid change and it made no difference the pan was pretty clean i am now lost any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

How many miles on it?

I would start saving my pennies for a rebuild though.....

If you got the money buy a mega viper...Probably the last trans you will have to worry about in that truck.

sorry it took so long to reply i have been away for a few days. There is no warranty left on the transmission unfortunately my major question is i want to rebuild the unit myself i just don't want to do everything to find out there is a bearing that don't come in the master rebuild kit that was the problem from the beginning

right now the truck runs and shifts great there is no slipping i only have this really annoying noise yesterday i towed a car with it on a tow dolly while pulling with the dolly i noticed that the noise had been so quite that it was almost gone but when i unloaded the car and dolly it was back just as loud as before

Think I would try and find where the noise was coming from... put it up on jackstands, and run it. See if you can localize it. You don't have a t-case to worry about......

i put it on my lift and had a friend drive it all of the noise seems to be coming from the inside of the transmission it kinda sounds like it coming from where the transmission front pump is but its really hard to determine it is definitely coming from inside the transmission
