How do I keep from killing transmissions
2001 ram 1500 with 3" lift and 33's. I just went up snow wheeling the other day and had about 500lb of equipment in the truck (gravel, and recovery gear) and once I got back down to the road and took it out of 4-low, I noticed the trans was slipping horribly in 1st. I have a big tranny cooler on it too.
My question is what caused this? I have an 04' duramax 3500 with about 400hp and 850lb-ft and have beat it 10x harder than I did this and that truck still runs and goes like a raped-ape. I know it got hot (obviously) but what can I do to fix this so I dont kill another transmission??

Honestly, go get a Viper or MegaViper.... http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm
The 46RE just can't handle much abuse. Do the check valve delete, maybe an inline filter thingy, perhaps a deeper pan since it would allow for more fluid.
Others will chime in...

Truck has 4.11 gears in it. sorry forgot to put that in the sig. It just amazes me how fragile these trucks are. I used to have a dakota R/T and that thing was built right. This 1500 wont even do a burnout from a stop in the rain! (when the trans was good) Do others experience this too or did I maybe have a bad converter?
