Default Hedman Headers, any good?

I was browsing the local used site for parts and came across a set of Hedman long tube headers for a hundred bucks, never installed. I jumped on the phone and told the guy I'd be over tomorrow to get them.
Didn't really think till after to ask if they were worth buying. I figured as long as they weren't the cheapies off Ebay, they'd do great. Now I have to get the off road y-pipe for them. But hey, no more cat, right. lol
Anyone have a set of these on their truck?

Just thought, the off road y-pipe won't work with long tubes will it?
Anything I could buy to run the long tubes to my cat? Or am i going to have to build this one?

Longtubes won't work with the off-road y.

Hell, make sure the longtubes will work with your truck period. But either way, you'll have to have a custom pipe fabbed up to connect it to the cat.

I've heard some people say stay away from hedmans and a few that say they are good, so idk what to tell you. I also believe that offroad y pipe wouldn't work () but if someone could correct me go ahead. Not to hijack this thread but do you always need an offroad y pipe for headers or could you have shop weld up pipe from the headers back?

^You could always just get them to fab up some pipe with an 02 bung to go into the cat. More than likely you'd have to get a new, universal cat, but don't quote me on that.

*edit*
He ninja'd me. DOH!

Yeeeees.

Pre-cat 02 is for the PCM to read what everything is doing. Post-cat 02 is also for the PCM to figure out if the cat is doing anything. That would be void since you have no cat, but you still need a post-cat 02 to make sure MOST everything works the way it's supposed to.

What do you mean make sure the long tubes will work with my truck? Clearance issues?

You have to make sure they fit both 2WD and 4WD trucks. Since your's is a 4x4 there are supposedly some clearance issues that the 2WD doesn't have. I don't remember what they are supposed to be though.

I would get the PN and google them and see if I couldn't find any other info on them.
