Default battery not staying charged.. URGENT!

I had a dead battery at school the other day, i got it home and hooked up the battery charger and charged it full, i took it off in the morning and even checked with a multimeter, just about 12.6 volts, the truck sat that day because i did not drive, yesterday when i went out to start it in the morning it would barely crank, the gauge read around 10 volts, i unhooked it from the truck and charged it and it holds a perfect charge, which makes me believe that the truck is drawing power, obviously all lights and radios are off and everything else that is obvious, i am out of ideas, i need help please, any help or insight would be appreciated

How old is that battery? Just because it read 12v after you took it off the charger doesn't mean that the battery is holding a charge. Bring it to a parts store and have them run their tester on it. These will be more accurate than a simple multimeter. If the battery checks out, check all your grounds (alternator, starter, etc.). If the battery is more than three years old, its probably a good idea to replace it

yea bud that sounds like a defective battery. If you just bought it over summer, it should still be under warranty. It probably has a bad cell and will just crap out every time a load is put on it. Where did you get the last battery from?

hmm autozone...that was your first mistake, advance is way better! haha im biased, it really doesnt matter where u get it from, but autozone should stand behind their stuff and give you a freebie....as long as the truck will jump start and run long enough to get there (our trucks freak out if the battery gets too low, it messes with the ecm)

Yeah I know... I had idling problems right before this I know it has to be related but autozone seems to have a good warranty policy on batteries, I usually get my stuff at orieleys but I had a gift card to autozone and I was short on cash this summer (just got the truck)

do you have remote start, or security system, or heavy duty sound system. it may have a malfunction that's drawing power. or a glove box or underhood light bulb.

if you can't find it, install one of these as a temp fix.

I have a security system and premium sound, is that I manual battery disconnect? My phone can't follow the link, I'm going to get the whole starting and charging system tested this weekend at autozone so I'm bound to find something there, what could possibly be drawing power though?

Glove box light, on yours, the cupholder lite. Underhood lite. Etc. I am betting bad battery though.

A good warranty doesn't make up for a crappy product. I bought a dist cap at auto zone..... my car quit running three days later. Cap was bad. Warranty replaced it, lasted two days, quit again. Bad Cap. Replaced it again..... lasted a week. Quit again, bad cap.... got my money back, went to Advance Auto, bought an Accel cap, never had a problem again.
