408 or 426 stroker (on a 360ci) and/or a "pro charger" or turbo setup. Hahns5.2 has a turbo setup and he has a build thread somewhere. Not sure how much hp he puts out though.

But neither will be under $2600...good luck getting 300hp+ with $2600.

Agreed.. It is possible for those numbers out of both motors but it will be more than 2600... A 408 would be your best bet.. There was a fella on here who did a 408 and he was well over 5k and not even done with it yet.. You also have to factor in the cost of a better transmission behind that 300-400 horse motor as these 46re transmissions will crumble under stock 318 and 360 power.

I agree with trans not holding up but definitely not that you can't get 300 hp out of a 360 for 2600. A good refresh on the bottom end, 2.02 Odessa heads, small cam depending on exactly what you want, and the normal bolt ons will get you 300. Last o checked the thumpr wasn't out for the magnum yet, they had a retro fit cam that would work but it required machining for the proper valve springs. If it's just that sound you want the Hughes whiplash cam would fit the bill though.

I would need to see dyno results on that.... 300 to the crank isnt hard.. 300 to the ground is a different story

I totally agree on that, but adding 55 more ponies at the crank wouldn't be that hard. Depending on what he wants 30 over and slight bump in compression would net more. He says he can get parts cheaper is one reason I say it's easily doable. I had a parts list I had compiled to get 400 ish at the crank on mine but I'd have to find it. I all fairness 1 hp per ci is childs play these days. It's really not hard you just have to research and shop around to get the right parts at the best prices.

I agree.. Maybe OP should be a little more specific as to if he wants this to be at the wheels or at the crank...

If I was building for a motor for power I'd want 300RWHP.

You can get close to that with just bolt ons, and a tune.... roller rockers, M1, or hughes air gap, headers and free-flowing exhaust, you would be close to 300 at the crank....

Doing the cam, heads, intake, exhaust could do 350 without too much trouble....

blower on the stock motor would do either in a heartbeat.... but, engine may not last long. Trans sure wouldn't.....
