Default Another coolant leak

So today when I got to work I noticed coolant dripping down from the left front corner of my truck and its coolant. I looked real quick but didn't get a good look. It looks like the bottom of the radiator is wet and its running down the frame rail. I'll have to pull it on the rack at work on Saturday and look into it. I know the front of the engine has some dried and some wet coolant on it and I believe it's also got a slow leak from the bypass hose. I think come summer I'm going to replace the radiator, water pump, bypass hose and whatever else needs replacing.

If it's leaking I'd go ahead and fix it. It'll blow at the worst possible time and place.

Yeah that'd be my luck but its my daily driver until my car comes out of storage when the weather starts to warm up. I'll start collecting parts but I doubt I'll have time until I graduate in May.

I had the same problem yesterday and found that my drain port on the radiator was turned in the wrong position(i forgot to put it back when i was trying to drain my fluid). It is possible that the seal is bad but i would make sure that the lever is horizontal and not up and down to the ground. Also, I replaced my water pump and with that did the upper and lower hoses, bypass hose, thermostat and extension tube(right above the thermostat) and BE SURE YOU REPLACE ALL OF THE HOSE CLAMPS!!! DAMHIKT!! total cost was around $215

So I pressure tested my coolant system today and it holds pressure. The lowere left of the radiator is wet but it stopped leaking? I'm puzzled. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it.

I had mystery coolant loss as well.... and I could never find the leak. Even when under pressure... that is, until the seam on the drivers side of the radiator let go.... then it was patently obvious where the leak was.....

Look closely at the left and right upper corners of the timing cover where it bolts against the front side of the engine block. The timing cover has two passages for coolant that are notorious for leaking. Sometimes the coolant will seep out, run down the block towards the rear and find its way down from there. Can be hard to isolate this particular leak. Once that gskt starts to go it will deteriorate quickly. Not so evident on a cold engine. I've done both rams in the family.

I'm almost positive it's my radiator starting to leak. I will. Be replacing it along with the water pump, coolant inlet tube, bypass hose, timing set, and timing cover gasket this upcoming spring into summer.

So today when I got to work my truck was leaking again. I found it only leaks on short trips as when the engine doesn't reach full oprtating temp. The leak is coming from the seam in the radiator where the plastic meets the aluminum. I just ordered a new one from advance auto. Ordering online saved me $40 vs going in the store to purchase. Should have it by Friday to fix it this weekend
