It probably IS doing it in other gears, it is just most noticeable in O/D. Been there, done that..... When I had a couple plug wires in the wrong order, the engine ran... not exactly smooth, but, I didn't REALLY feel it till I hit O/D, then it felt like the truck was going to shake itself apart.
